Marc van Zadelhoff, CEO of Mimecast, Named Security Executive of the Year at 2025 SC Awards

This recognition underscores van Zadelhoff’s exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and tremendous impact on Mimecast and the broader cybersecurity industry since joining the organization.  

Since taking the helm in January 2024, van Zadelhoff has driven a period of great transformation – marked by three industry-shaping acquisitions in Elevate Security, Aware, and Code42 and the launch of Mimecast’s connected Human Risk Management (HRM) Platform. He has also overseen rapid geographic expansion with a new office in Canada, which serves as an AI-focused Engineering Center of Excellence, and the launch of operations in Italy, Spain, Mexico, France, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia. The expansion has made Mimecast’s integrated HRM platform available to thousands of more organizations around the world.  

This SC Award recognition also reflects van Zadelhoff’s role in shaping a culture of transparency, accountability, and innovation at Mimecast. Under his disciplined, opportunity-driven leadership he has emphasized the importance of aligning cybersecurity rigor with business strategy, regularly engaging employees through company-wide forums and championing executive visibility.

CyberRisk Alliance and SC Media announced the winners of the 2025 SC Awards at a reception during RSA Conference. Now in its 28th year, the SC Awards received hundreds of entries across 33 categories. A panel of CISOs, cybersecurity practitioners, and industry experts evaluated entries based on technical merit, market impact, and real-world problem-solving capabilities. 

Mimecast’s innovation was on full display during RSA Conference 2025. The organization introduced the Human Risk Command Center, a key addition to its HRM platform engineered to provide unparalleled visibility into human risk, enabling customers to identify and mitigate threats more effectively and efficiently. The integrated HRM platform offers organizations the right data to measure human risk, empowers employees to become an active part of defense and protects organizations from targeted, advanced attacks across the threat landscape.
